Iowa State University

Iowa State University is a large four-year, primarily residential school, located in a small city (Ames, Iowa). It is a public school, located in the great Plains area of the country. It is one of the land-grant schools. (Land-grant institutions are schools that have been designated by Congress to receive the benefits of the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890.)

Gregory L. Geoffroy is the President of the school. You can find more information about Iowa State University by visiting their website.

Iowa State University has a closed admissions policy. This doesn't mean you won't be able to be admitted to the school, but that you should contact the admissions office for complete admissions information. In order to apply for admittance, you will need your high school GPA, your high school ranking (where you were in your class), your transcripts, and standardized test scores, such as those from an ACT or SAT. (Check with the admissions office to see which tests are acceptable.) If English is not your primary language, it is required that you take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and submit the results with your admissions application.

Of those who applied to the school, 90% were admitted. There are currently 25,462 students enrolled in the Iowa State University.

Academic and career counseling services are available to students and, if it fits better with your needs, the school offers some programs via distance learning.

The school has on-campus housing available for up to 8,966 students. On-campus housing costs average about $3,427 per year. You may also choose to participate in a meals program for an additional $2,902. (This could be a weekly, monthly, or term amount. Check with the school's admissions office for further information.)

The average tuition for out-of-state full-time undergraduates is approximately $15,580. If you are an in-state student, then the average tuition is approximately $5,086. Any tuition figures are exclusive of required fees, books, and supplies. The fees can vary, but books typically average about $892. It is estimated that the total cost for an in-state student is $16,350 per year and $26,844 per year for an out-of-state student. If you choose to live off-campus, then it is possible for costs to be higher.
